Director of Athletics, James Nelson and Head Baseball Coach and Associate Director of Athletics, Cary McConnell were honored by the Suffolk University Community for their efforts in promoting awareness in the battle against Breast Cancer. The Suffolk University Athletic Department has been instrumental in creating awareness through their involvement during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. All of Suffolk's student-athletes participate in the annual Breast Cancer Walk held on Suffolk's campus in the month of October. The walk which starts out in front of the Donahue Building on Temple Street continues through the campus before finishing in front of the Massachusetts State House building. Both Nelson, and McConnell have played significant roles in promoting the event. The event was started by communications professor Norine Bagicalupo in 2002.
