Suffolk Athletics to Host Travis Roy

Suffolk University's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has put together a speaking engagement for the entire Suffolk community on January 29th with Travis Roy, the former Boston University Hockey player who was tragically paralyzed in his first college game.  The event will be held at Suffolk's C. Walsh Theater beginning at 6:00 pm.

Actively involved in the activities of the Foundation that bears his name, Roy is a popular motivational speaker and has also worked as a color commentator for college hockey games on ESPN and WMTW-TV8 in Maine." In 1997 Roy wrote his autobiography with Sports Illustrated's E.M. Swift titled Eleven Seconds which chronicles his accident, rehabilitation, and perseverance through personal tragedy. Eleven Seconds was recently updated with an 'Afterword' chapter and is currently in its sixth printing.

The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), along with the office of Disabilty Services, and the Athletic Department are sponsoring this event at the Walsh Theater on January 29th.  Refreshments will be served prior to the engagement in the lobby of the Donahue Building at 5:00 pm.
