Chris Glionna returns for his sixth campaign full season as Head
Ice Hockey Coach at Suffolk this winter. The former Ram standout
served as an assistant coach under Brian Horan for five seasons
before ascending to the top post for the 2004-05 season. During his
time at Suffolk, Glionna has seen his program grow as one of the
most reputable Division III hockey programs in New England. Last
season Glionna coached Mitch Sabo ('09) who was named a ECAC
Northeast All-Star as well a New England Hockey Writers All-Star.
He also coach Kyle Cook ('09) was named an ESPN the Magazine's
Academic All-District, the first such player in program history to
earn such honors. In his six seasons behind the Rams bench, Glionna
has seen four of his players earn recognition throughout and New
England. He has coached two of Suffolk's top ten leading scorers in
program history, and five of his players are among the leaders in
program history for goals scored in a season.
Glionna is a 1995 Suffolk University graduate and also earned his
Law degree at Suffolk University Law School in 2001. He is
currently an attorney for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Glionna was recently named by Boston Magazine as a 2009
Massachusetts “Super Lawyers Rising Stars” in
litigation from a poll of Massachusetts attorneys conducted by
Boston Magazine and Law and Politics Magazine. Super Lawyers Rising
Stars” are nominated by their peers and evaluated by a blue
ribbon panel. Only 2.5% of the eligible attorneys in Massachusetts
are selected. To qualify, an attorney must be age 40 or younger, or
in practice for 10 years or less.
Glionna's father, Leonard A. Glionna and brother, Josh Glionna,
also graduated from Suffolk University.
A former Suffolk University Hockey standout, Coach Fowke
graduated from the university in 1995. Coach Fowke's coaching
resume is extensive throughout the north shore area. He previously
coached hockey at Melrose (MA) and Everett (MA) high schools, as
well as being the Northeast Ice Hockey Coach for the Bay State
Games. In 2006 and 2007 his teams won the gold medal, as well as
earning a bronze medal in 2005. Coach Fowke served as the Bay State
Games Ice Hockey Director in 2008. He has also worked as the New
England College Development Skills Coach and worked at the St.
John's Prep. Athletic Skills Camp. Coach Fowke played his high
school hockey at Medford High School. He holds a Bachelors of
Science from Suffolk University ('95) as well as a Masters in
Education from Salem State ('03). Coach Fowke currently works in
the Boston Public Schools system as a Physical Education Teacher.
