Mike Bertoni enters his second season as an Assistant Coach for Suffolk University Men’s Hockey. Bertoni’s previous coaching experience includes serving as Head Coach for the University of Massachusetts-Boston Men’s Ice Hockey program from 2003-05. Bertoni also served as an Assistant Coach at Wentworth Institute of Technology during the 2006-07 season, where the Leopards reached the ECAC Northeast Conference finals. Bertoni was also the Head Coach at Somerville High School from 2007-09. During his time at Somerville, his team qualified for the state tournament for the first time in 10 seasons, while his team maintained a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
Bertoni graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Boston where he starred for the Beacons from 1998-2002 with a degree in Physical Education. Bertoni was a captain during his senior campaign and was named as the Beacons’ Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year in 2002. Bertoni earned his Master’s Degree from Cambridge College in Education and is currently pursuing a second Master’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts-Boston in Educational Administration.
Bertoni currently works in the Boston Public Schools System as a Health/Physical Education teacher.
