Providence, RI - The Suffolk University Men's Soccer team dropped the Johnson & Wales Wildcats, 7-1 on the road securing a home-field playoff in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Quarterfinals. With the win the Rams will now host cross town rival Emerson College at 5pm on Saturday afternoon at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville.
Senior Benhard Lotterer (Lima, Peru) scored a
pair of goals, including the game-winner, and added two assists in
the win for Suffolk.
The visiting Rams got on the board first when senior Nick
Celia (Hanson, Mass.) put in a pass from Lotterer just
3:35 into the contest. Lotterer then gave Suffolk the 2-0
advantage just six seconds later when tallied what would prove to
be the game-winner. Suffolk took the 4-0 lead into halftime
after controlling the action with a 12-0 advantage in shots.
It was more of the same in the second half as Suffolk took the 7-0
lead before senior Scott Kirchner (Irvine, Calif.) put the Wildcats
on the board with an unassisted goal at the 76:22 mark.
Suffolk then cruised to the 7-1 victory.
Junior Joe Ferraro (Freehold, N.J.) had three saves in the loss for
JWU while junior Jack DeJesus (Swampscott, Mass.)
had four stops for Suffolk.
