Rams Drop Two In Emerson's Tip-Off Tournament

Boston, MA - The Suffolk University Women's Basketball team dropped both games at the Emerson College Tip-Off Tournament this weekend. The Rams fell to Montclair State University (NJ) on Friday evening 74-62 and then fell to Hamilton College (NY) on Saturday afternoon, 79-59 in the consolation game.

Sophomore Julianne Conrad (West Bridgewater, MA) had 16-points in Friday's loss going 6-for-12 from the field including 2-for-2 from 3-point land.  Senior Mara Dreiser (Port Ewen, NY) also had 14 points for Suffolk playing all forty minutes of the contest.  Montclair's Jamilee Pflug had 14 points, while Kisandra Ayanbeku put in 20 points to go along with 16 rebounds as the Red Hawks shot 64 percent from the field in the second half to put away the Rams.  Senior Laura Thompson (Kennebunk, ME) also had 10 points for the Rams.

On Saturday, freshman Jaqueline Vienneau (Salem, NH) had a team-high 14 points, going 4-for-5 from the field, including connecting on a pair of 3-pointers. Dreiser also had her second double-digit effort in points on the weekend, with 11 points in the game.  Hamilton managed to build a 13-point lead in the first half, shooting 57.6 percent as a team from the field, as the Rams were unable to cut the deficit dropping their second game in the tournament. Hamilton's Blue Sanders finished the game with 25 points for 10-for-13 from the field, including 3-for-4 from 3-point land in the victory. Sophomores Meghan Black (Roslindale, MA) and Julianne Conrad each had 8 rebounds for the Rams.

Montclair State defeated Emerson College 75-51 in Saturday's Championship game.

Suffolk will be back in action on Tuesday evening as they host Colby-Sawyer College in a non-conference matchup as part of a basketball doubleheader. Both of Suffolk's teams will be hosting their regular season home openers. The Lady Rams will tip-off at 5:30 pm at the Regan Gymnasium.
