Women's Hoops Extend Home Winning Streak to Seven

The Suffolk University Women's Basketball team (10-6, 5-1 GNAC) extended their home winning streak to seven games as they topped the Mount Ida College Mustangs (5-13, 2-4 GNAC), 66-42 on Thursday evening at the Regan Gymnasium. With the win the Rams improve their record to 5-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play, and 10-6 overall.

Sophomore Jacqueline Vienneau (Salem, N.H.) led all scorers with 18 points, while freshman Jennifer Ruys (Wallingford, Conn.) netted 15 points with eight rebounds and five blocked shots for the Rams.

Junior Jeileen Rivera (Springfield, Mass.) recorded a double-double for the Mustangs, as she scored 11 points and led all rebounders in the contest with 10. Junior Shannon Wood (Gorham, Me.) also scored 11 points for the visitors, while freshman Abigail Fedigan (New Fairfield, Conn.) had 10 points.

The Rams jumped out to a quick start as they took a 41-19 lead into the half. Ruys scored all 15 of her points in the first half as she was 4-for-5 from the field and a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line.

Sophomore Lindsey Rogers (Gloucester, Mass.) had nine points for Suffolk, while junior Mary Garon (Auburn, N.H.) had eight rebounds along with six points.

Both teams will be back in GNAC action this weekend. The Mustangs will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Norwich University for a 1:00pm. Suffolk will travel to Rivier College for a 1:00pm contest on Saturday.
