Junior Tori Brillaud (North Andover, Mass.) of the Suffolk University Volleyball team was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Offensive Player of the Week for Women's Volleyball on Monday September 9th.
Brillaud and the Rams claimed the David Hildebrandt Memorial Invitational hosted by Newbury College over the weekend. Brillaud was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player as she recorded a total of fifty kills in the three game span.
In Saturday's championship game, a 3-2 victory over host Newbury, Brillaud recorded a total of 20 kills on 52 attempts on the offensive side of the ball. She also led the Rams with a team-high 20 digs defensively.
Suffolk also recorded a pair of wins on Friday afternoon. In their opener Suffolk defeated Albertus Magnus College, 3-1 as Brillaud posted 19 kills. The victory was the Rams first of the season and also first for newly appointed Head Coach Kristine Mickelson in her career.
Suffolk would later defeat Bard College, 3-0 Friday evening as Brillaud led all offensive players with 11 kills.
Through six games this season Brillaud leads all players in the GNAC with an average of 3.5 kills per set, while she is fifth with a .227 hitting percentage.
Suffolk maintains a 3-3 overall record to start the 2013 season. They will be back in action on Tuesday evening as they travel to Massachusetts Maritime Academy for a 7:00pm non-confence matchup before traveling to Daniel Webster College on Thursday evening.
