Baseball Ranked No. 24 in Top 25 Top 25 Week 3

BOSTON – For the third time in the history of the program, the Suffolk baseball team appeared in the Top 25 national rankings, appearing at No. 24 in the latest Top 25 poll, released by the organization Tuesday morning.

It marks the Rams first time on the list since sliding in at No. 20 in 2005, while the blue-and-gold's Top 25 debut came in 2000 at No. 18.

Suffolk headed to the Sunshine State to throw the first pitch of its 70th season where it opened things up with a convincing 11-3 decision over then-No. 9 St. John Fisher. The victory over the ranked opponent was the first under third-year head coach Anthony Del Prete and first for the blue-and-gold since downing No. 19 Eastern Connecticut State, 6-1, March 25, 2013. From there, the Rams outlasted then-No. 6 Ramapo, before putting together a 10-9, 12-inning walk off thrilling victory over Montclair State Sunday afternoon to move to 3-0 on the season.

The Rams' 3-0 start marks the best since going 3-0-1 to open the 1990 season, while the three straight wins to kick off a campaign are the first since Suffolk rattled off six straight victories to begin 1985.

In the midst of its Spring Break trip, Suffolk, who fell to Dickinson, 2-1, Monday afternoon, is back on the diamond Tuesday, March 14 at 12:30 p.m. versus Rochester Institute of Technology.
