Five More Athletes Earn GNAC Recognition

Five student athletes have earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference award for the week of March 30 after a success over the weekend. Softball swept two double headers against Albertus Magnus and Johnson & Wales, while baseball rolled through Rivier College. Men's Tennis dropped a close match to Emerson College on Saturday, 5-4.

Senior Jess Ferreira (Cambridge, MA) earned Player of the Week honors leading the Rams to four victories over this past weekend. Ferreira went 7 for 11 on the weekend with four extra base hits, driving in seven and scoring five times as Suffolk swept both double headers against Albertus Magnus and Johnson & Wales.

Freshamn Karina Bolster (Carlisle, PA) was named GNAC Rookie of the Week. Bolster was 4-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI in Suffolk's game one victory of Albertus Magnus. Bolster reached base safely in all six plate appearances in the two games. Karina was also 2-3 with 2 runs scored in Suffolk's game one victory over Johnson & Wales.

Baseball finished the week with a perfect 4-0 mark, defeating Babson College and Bridgewater State during the week in conference action, before steamrolling Rivier College scoring 43 runs combined in a GNAC double header on Saturday.

Senior Keith Carter (Newburyport, MA) earned GNAC Player of the Week honor. Carter hit .563 on the week. Carter was 3-4 and scored 3 times in Thursday's 6-2 win over Bridgewater St. Carter was also 5-5 and scored 6 times, knocking in 4 runs with 2 doubles and a triple in a game 1 victory over Rivier on Saturday.

Senior Reid Jackson (Burlington, MA) earned Pitcher of the Week honors by throwing a complete game six hitter to lead the Rams to a 2-1 victory over Babson College onTuesday. Jackson cruised in the later innings only allowing two hits in his final 7 innings of work to pick up his secondwin on the year.

Freshman Christopher Staley (London, England) earned GNAC Rookie of the Week honors for Men's Tennis for the second consecutive week. Staley was 2-0 on the week for Suffolk. Staley picked up his second victory of the yearin the 2 position for the Rams, and was victorious in doubles play as well in a GNAC match this week against Emerson College.
