TCNJ Sweeps Baseball in Doubleheader
The Suffolk baseball team fell in back-to-back games to TCNJ Friday at Lake Myrtle Park as a part of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. The Rams fell in game on, 4-1, before being shutout 4-0 in the nightcap.

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Suffolk baseball team fell in back-to-back games to TCNJ Friday at Lake Myrtle Park as a part of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. The Rams fell in game on, 4-1, before being shutout 4-0 in the nightcap.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
TCNJ struck early with a pair of runs in the first and another in the second to grab a 3-0 lead and pushed it to four-runs with one in the top of the fourth.
Looking to comeback, the Rams had a pair of base runners on second and third in the bottom of the fifth with just one out. Will Hopkins sent a two-hopper to short and TCNJ successfully turned a 643 double play to keep Suffolk off the scoreboard.
Suffolk made one last move to comeback in the bottom of the seventh. Pinch hitter Zack Aresty drew a walk and TCNJ made a change on the mound as D Crowley came in to take over for M Fischer. The new arm was no match for Blasé Cormier, who singled through the left side, to push Aresty to second. A fielder's choice by pinch hitter Greg Speliotis moved Aresty into scoring position and a sac fly by Rich Gilbride gave the Rams their first run of the game. Hopkins grounded out to the Lions third basemen to end the rally and sealed the 4-1 setback for Suffolk.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
Similar to game one, TCNJ struck early with two runs in the first and added another pair in the bottom of the fifth to put Suffolk in a 4-0 hole.
The Rams waited until the seventh to make a move once again and three walks loaded the bases for Suffolk. With the tying-run at the plate and the go-ahead run on deck, TCNJ made its second change of the inning on the bump with Matthew Curry coming in to throw. The D3Baseball.com Preseason All-American sat down back-to-back Suffolk hitters to end the inning and the game.
PITCHERS PICTURE
- Kevin Sinatra dealt a complete-game to opener the series with the southpaw giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits and four walks through all 7.0 innings.
- Rich Giandrea made his second start of the season. The freshman allowed four runs on six hits and one walk with four Ks.
- Parker Browne threw 1.0 innings of scoreless relief.
