BOSTON – Suffolk baseball is back in conference competition this weekend with a trip to Johnson & Wales and a visit by Lasell on the calendar. The Rams first travel to the Wildcats Saturday, April 13 before the Lasers stop by East Boston Memorial Park Sunday, April 14.

Sunday, April 14 is a special day for the Suffolk University community as it is Ralph Ferragamo day at East Boston Memorial Park.
Ralph graduated from Suffolk University in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts and was a star outfielder for the Rams during that time.
Recently, Ralph made a commitment to establish a fund that will support the Suffolk baseball program in perpetuity and will go directly to support our student-athletes.
Sunday, the Suffolk University community would like to welcome alumni, families, fans and friends to East Boston Memorial Park to acknowledge and thank Ralph Ferragamo for his generosity and the support he has provided to the Suffolk baseball program for many years.

The Suffolk baseball team suffered a 12-4 setback to the hands of Wheaton Wednesday night at Sidell Stadium.

Suffolk has taken care of business against conference foes so far this season, sweeping Norwich, Albertus Magnus, Colby Sawyer and Rivier to hold a 10-0 league ledger. Overall, the Rams are 17-10-1 on the year.
Two-bags Tim Brigham has been a force for Suffolk's offensive output as the junior paces the Rams' bats that have combined for a .318 average. Brigham, who heads into the weekend as the nation's leader in doubles, has struck for 43 hits, 19 of which went for two bases, to bring in 33 runs and score 18. Will Hopkins is hitting .383 with 36 hits, 15 RBI, 26 runs and 17 stolen bases. Blase Cormier adds depth at the plate with 35 hits, 21 RBI and 23 runs scored.
In the Rams' rotation on the rubber is the reigning NCAA Division III NCBWA Pitcher of the Week Worth Walrod (4.80 ERA, 38 Ks, 30.0 IP), Kevin Sinatra (4.24 ERA, 16 Ks, 34.0 IP), Steven Rossi (1.91 ERA, 23 Ks, 28.1 IP) and Charles Batchelder (3.52 ERA, 24 K, 30.2 IP).
Johnson & Wales has fallen in three of its last four including two straight to head into the weekend 17-9 on the year and 7-1 in conference contests.
Joe Maracic leads the way at the plate with a .398 that has produced 26 RBI on 35 hits to go with 23 runs and three stolen bases. Colby Greenhalgh, who its .380, has provided 30 hits, 17 RBI and 29 runs, while Armani Henderson has added 26 hits, 16 RBI and 15 runs with a .306 batting average.
The Wildcats' ace James Smiegocki has seen the most action overall and in conference play; facing all league foes in some capacity this season. The senior heads into the weekend with a 3.89 ERA and 34 Ks with 34.2 innings of action under his belt. Josh Mousseau has also been a staple in the weekend rotation for JWU. He brings a staff-best 1.29 ERA into the conference clash with 30 punchouts in 28.0 frames.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Suffolk has won six straight meetings with Johnson & Wales to take a 38-17 lead in the all-time series.
- The Rams swept the Wildcats a year ago to move to 11-3 in the Anthony Del Prete against JWU.
Lasell holds a 13-10 overall mark and 4-4 league ledger. Prior to heading to Eastie Sunday, the Lasers will entertain Rivier Saturday (April 13).
Evan Michalek and Andrew Marchesseault are the Lasers' leaders at bat. Michalek hits .275 with 22 hits, 11 RBI and 19 runs scored, while Marchesseault boasts 21 hits, seven RBI and 16 runs scored on a .333 average.
Zach Handzel headlines Lasell's arm. The junior holds a 3.82 ERA in 35.1 frames with 29 strikeouts. David Marsell, who has seen 27.1 innings, brings in a 2.63 ERA with 16 Ks, with Chris O'Connor (24. IP, 18 Ks, 2.22 ERA) and Dan Petr (23.0 IP, 32 Ks, 2.74 ERA) adding depth on the hill.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Suffolk stretch its win streak against the Lasers to nine to improve to 25-1 all-time after defeating Lasell in the regular season and playoffs a year ago.
- Under Anthony Del Prete, the Rams are 10-1 versus Lasell.
