WEYMOUTH, Mass. – Suffolk baseball rallied a three-run comeback in the top of the seventh to tie it up and force extra innings, but Wentworth managed to walk-off game two of the Conference of New England (CNE) double feature Monday, 6-5, at Libbey Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Max Martin lofted a one-out homer in the top of the first to give Suffolk a 1-0 edge.
The Leopards' answered with a three-run home half of the second to for the Rams to play catchup. Wentworth's scoring came behind three hits, a wild pitch and a sac fly.
Suffolk quickly chipped the gap down to one. Once again Max Martin factored into the scoring as he laced a triple to center field and scored behind a productive ground out to short from Chris Cimino to pull the blue-and-gold within one, 3-2.
The Rams had a chance to make up more ground in the top of the fourth as all the ducks were in the pond with two outs. WIT made a change on the bump as Chase Carder took over for Brady Aubuchon. The fresh arm got the last out and kept the one-run game in the Leopards' favor.
Wentworth lengthened its lead back to three runs, 5-2, as it tacked on one in the fourth and fifth frames, respectively.
After a scoreless sixth, Suffolk faced a three-run deficit in the top of the seventh. The Rams managed to chuck the bases with two outs, which brought up Sebastian Lampert. The designated hitter lobbed a deep double to center to clear the bases and level the playing field at 5-all.
Jack Raimo held Wentworth in the seventh to send the game to eight.
The Rams were retired in order in the top of the extra-inning and it looked to be the same to get the bottom of the frame underway as Raimo quickly secured the first two outs. Pinch hitter Jake Samela knocked a single to right to keep the stanza going and that ignited a rally. Devon Lapierre with a single of his own and Matt Robinson won the game for the Leopards with a base hit to center.
PITCHERS PICTURE
- Raimo took the loss as he gave up one run on four hits in 1.2 innings of relief.
- Harry Meehan started and allowed four runs on five hits and two walks through 4.0 innings.
- John McDevitt let up one run on four hits and one walk in 2.0 innings out of the pen.
- Cooper Smith secured the win for the Leopards with 1.1 innings of scoreless, hitless work with one strikeout.
- Aubuchon started and gave up two runs on four hits and three walks in 3.2 innings.
- Carder yielded three runs on three hits and one walk in 3.0 innings.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Max Martin went 2-for-5. Both of his hits were good for extra bases with a triple and homer. He scored twice and brought in one run.
- Lampert logged a 2-for-3 plate performance with one double, three RBI and one walk.
- Cimino produced one hit, one RBI and one walk.
- Sam Armbruster added one hit, one run and one walk.
- Cole Hilliard had one hit.
NOTEWORTHY
- Suffolk had a homer for the fifth straight game. It is the first time that Suffolk has had five consecutive contests with a homer since a six-game stretch April 22-29, 2017.
- Max Maritn barreled his four home run of the year.
