Salbego Signs with North Platte 80s of PECOS League

NORTH PLATTE 80s 

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – Pierce Salbego of the Suffolk baseball team will continue his playing days as the right-handed hurler signed an independent deal with the North Platte 80s of the PECOS League of Professional Baseball Clubs. 

The 80s will play a 55-game schedule through the summer running through the end of July in their second season.  North Platte became the newest member of the PECOS league in their inaugural season in 2024. 

Salbego, the Rams ace this season in 2025, made his 80s debut Thursday, May 30 versus the Garden City Wind. He allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits and two walks with five Ks over 5.0 inning in his first professional start. 

While in blue-and-gold, Salbego shoved 178.2 innings over 46 games including 21 starts. He assembled a 12-5record with a career 5.34 ERA and 132 punchouts. The Plainfield, Illinois, native saved the best for his senior season in which he went 4-3 with a career-best 3.80 ERA and 55 strikeouts en route to his first collegiate all-league recognition with a spot on the Conference of New England's Third-Team.
