Babson Uses Extra Base Hits to Beat Baseball in Seven

BABSON PARK, Mass. – A half dozen extra base hits by the Beavers proved to be the difference as Suffolk baseball dropped a 12-1, seven-inning non-conference decision to Babson Wednesday afternoon at Giovanni Field.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 1 | Babson 12
RECORDS: Suffolk (1-12) | Babson (4-8)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Colin Flynn singled and Cole Hilliard walked by Jack Mihalchik few out to center to put Rams in the corners with one out in the top of the first. A failed pickoff attempt by Babson's hurler James Clark allowed Flynn to strut in and put the Rams on the board, 1-0.
  • Back-to-back Beavers walked to open the home half of the first. Colin McNeal's composure came and he quickly got the next two batters, but Robert Christensen had other things in mind as he singled down the left field line to bring the tying run in and make it a 1-all game.
  • Two innings later Babson took advantage as it put up four runs on four hits including back-to-back doubles to put Suffolk in a 5-1 hole.
  • The margin grew to nine as the Beavers scored five more in the fourth thanks to a pair of dingers.
  • More extra base hits off the host bats put the game away in the fifth in Babson's favor, 12-1.
