BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk baseball rookie Luke Thornton was named Conference of New England (CNE) Rookie of the Week following a productive seven game stretch for the Rams.

Thornton powered the Suffolk offense across the week, totaling 9 hits in 19 at-bats (.474) with 12 runs scored and 7 RBI. He also added two doubles, three walks, and two stolen bases.

He opened the stretch on April 21 at Western New England, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBI in a 15-11 win. On April 22 at Rivier, Thornton batted 1-for-4 with a run scored in a 7-5 setback.

The rookie bounced back on April 23 against Salem State, going 1-for-2 with a double, two runs scored, one RBI, two walks, and two stolen bases in a 13-4 victory.

Thornton continued his strong week at Nichols on April 25, combining for a 3-for-6 effort across the doubleheader with three runs scored. He followed that with a 2-for-4 performance on April 26 against Lasell, driving in two runs and scoring once, while also drawing two walks and scoring three runs in the opener.
