Henniker, N.H. – Suffolk University forward Matt
Pepdjonvic (Quincy, Mass.) scored a game-high 17 points
and grab six rebounds leading the visiting Rams past the New
England College Pilgrims 78-69 in men’s basketball actions
Sunday afternoon. With the win the Rams remain undefeated on the
season improving to 3-0. With the loss the Pilgrims even their
record at 2-2 on the season.
Suffolk would grab the momentum early opening the game on a 10-0
run. NEC would battle back cutting the Ram lead to just four, down
14-18 midway through the half. Suffolk would rebuild their lead
using an 8-0 run to go up 13 points but again the NEC offense would
battle back trailing just 30-36 heading into halftime.
The Pilgrims would continue to chip away at the Ram lead as they
would get the game within a point down 48-49 with 12:12 remaining
in regulation. Suffolk would rebound shooting and impressive 50%
from beyond the three-point arc in the second half and hold on for
the 78=69 victory.
Suffolk’s Sam Hutchins (Andover, Mass.)
finished with 15 points and five assists for the Rams.
Suffolk’s Mike Fleming (Exeter, N.H.)
chipped in 10 points and Mike Gibbons (Ringwood,
N.J.) finished with nine points
Leading the way for NEC was Rafael Salado (Boston, Mass.) who
finished 6-for-12 from the field totaling 14 points. NEC’s
Eric Lenahan (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) and Nick Hoffman
(Thetford, Vt.) each chipped in 12 points for the Pilgrims.
NEC returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 24 when they travel to take
on in-state opponent Rivier College at 5:30 p.m. Suffolk hosts
Salve Regina University on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
