BOSTON – Over the weekend, Suffolk men's basketball took the course at the Flutie 5k on team You're With Us!
You're with Us! Is a non-profit organization and Department of Development Services (DDS) service provider which seeks to create better communities by harnessing the benefits of inclusion for the disabled. Not only do people with disabilities need inclusion opportunities in order to thrive, but also have opportunities that allow them to contribute to their community in ways that have gone unrecognized in the past. You're with Us! Helps with this by identifying, training and support college clubs, groups and teams to be welcoming and supportive peers to the disabled.
As a preseason event, Suffolk's squad joined forces with You're With Us! for the Flutie 5k course at the Belkin Family Lookout Farm in Natick, Massachusetts Sunday, Oct. 16. The race itself, in its 23rd year, has been put on annually by the Flutie Foundation for Autism to help people and families and individuals affected by autism.
Suffolk's partnership with You're With Us! will likely continue throughout the 2022-23 season. In the meantime, seventh-year head coach Jeff Juron has been putting the Rams to work on the hardwood of Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court to prep for the 77th season debut, a Saturday, Nov. 12 showdown with Salem State at 3:00 p.m.
