Men’s Basketball Projected Fifth in CNE Preseason Poll

BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk men's basketball has been predicted to finish fifth in the Conference of New England (CNE) according the league's preseason poll, the conference office announced Tuesday. 

The league's 10 head coaches predicted the Rams to finish in the middle of the pack with 61 points. 

The fifth-place forecast comes after the 2023-24 squad played its way to the conference championship as the sixth seed with a 15-12 overall mark and 8-8 league ledger.  

Western New England was selected by six head coaches to win the conference crown and is the preseason favorite with 95 points. Nichols received three first-place votes to slid into second with 83 points and Endicott was one point behind the Bison in third. Reigning conference champ Roger Williams picked up the remaining first-place nod to take fourth with 71 points. 

The Rams were ahead of Wentworth (52), Hartford (37), Gordon (30), Curry (20) and the University of New England (19). 

Four core everyday players return to the Rams line-up in Keenan Robertson (17.4 ppg, 6.6 rpg), Danny Yardemian (14.4 ppg, 3.2 apg), Cole LeVangie (8.3 ppg, 5.0 rpg) and Jake Gomez (7.1 ppg, 4.4 rpg).  

The 2024-25 season is set to get underway next Saturday, Nov. 9 when Maine Farmington stops by Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
