BEVERLY, Mass. – James Jones of the Suffolk men's basketball team collected his second Conference of New England (CNE) Rookie of the Week nod in as many weeks after averaging 12.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in a 2-0 week, the league office announced Monday.
The freshman from Boston, Massachusetts, tallied his first collegiate double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds in the 66-51 home-opening win over Colby Sawyer. In the victory over the Chargers he added three assists, two swats and one steal.
Three days later, the 6-foot-5 forward went 7-for-15 from the field to finish with 14 points to go along with four caroms, four dimes, two steals and one block to help take down Salem State, 77-58.
The weekly recognition is Suffolk's second of the season, both of which belong to James. He is the first Ram to pick up multiple CNE weekly nods since Keenan Roberston earned four last season. The pair of rookie of the week awards is a first for Suffolk since Brendan Mulson garnered four from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) in 2017-18.
James and Suffolk are back in action tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 20 when they visit No. 4 Tufts at 7:00 p.m.
