PORTSMOUTH, R.I. – Suffolk men's golf opened its 2025 spring scheduled with a fifth-place performance at the RWU Invitational at the Aquindeck Club.
The Rams finished in the middle of the eight-team field. After 18 holes the blue-and-gold sat in third place with a 310, but dipped down two spots after shooting a 319 on the 6,335-yard course on Monday to finish with a 629, just one stroke behind Eastern Connecticut State and three shy of Roger William, who captured the last spot on the podium.
Endicott won the two-day invite with a 593, while Salem State slid into second with a 612. Nichols (650), Rhode Island College (667) and SUNY Old Westbury (737) rounded out the field.
Ryan Mollica and Jake Zirlin shared Suffolk's top golfer honors as the sophomore and senior both shot a 156 to tie for 11th alongside Ethan Doyle of Salem State and Endicott's Tyler Baker.
Vijay Sakuru shared 21st with his teammate Michael Gallagher, who competed as an individual, with a 161.
Trey Connolly and Christopher Sinopoli were both one was one stroke behind Sakuru and Gallagher for a share of 25th.
Suffolk will take next weekend off and is due to get back on the course April 18-19 at the RIC Invitational at the Valley Country Club in Warwick, Rhode Island.
