Rams Fall to Becker, 3-2

Becker College (7-10-0) defeated Suffolk (3-10-1) behind solid goaltending from junior Tony Stoehr (Depere, WI). Stoehr (5-5) made 30 saves on the evening for his fifth win on the season in net.

The Rams jumped out first when Mitch Sabo (Bell Canyon, CA) converted a Rams power play for his fifth goal of the season. The big defenseman has now scored 3 power-play goals in his last two games. John Rocchio (East Greenwich, RI) and Paul Weisser (Longmeadow, MA) had assists on the goal scored at 17:33 in the first.

The Hawks took the lead late in the second when John Nogatch (Kirkland, WA) knocked in his fifth goal of the year with nine seconds remaining in the period.

Brian Murray's goal at 3:27 into the third period put Becker up 3-1 and turned out to be the eventual game winner. Patrick Bellew finished the night with two assists for the Hawks, and Jared Kersner, who scored Becker's first goal in the game, was also credited with an assist on the game-winning tally.

Suffolk's Zach Scienzo (Concord, NH) scored his first goal of the season on feeds from Scott Zanolli (Tracy,CA) and Niles Moore (Columbus, OH) to cut the lead to 3-2.

Jeff Rose (2-8-1) made 24 saves in the loss. Suffolk outshot Becker 32-27 in the game.

Suffolk will be back in action Thursday evening as the host Westfield State in an ECAC Northeast game. The game will be played at Sterreti Rink in Boston's North End. Game time is at 6:00 pm.
