Bourque, Cook and Sabo Earn Academic Accolades

Senior forward Kyle Cook (Chino Hills, CA),senior defenseman Mitch Sabo (Bell Canyon, CA) and junior Michael Bourque (Waltham, MA) were all named to the ECAC Northeast All-Academic Team for the 2008-09 season.

Cook, a Criminology & Law major at Suffolk, currently maintains a 3.79 cumulative grade point average. Cook, was Suffolk's leading point getter on the season, finishing with 14 goals and 17 assists for a total of 31 points. Cook also scored four game winning goals on the season and was twice named ECAC Northeast Player of the Week in the month of February. Cook was also named a semi-finalist for the Joe Concannon Award presented to the best American-born college hockey player in the New England region at the Division II or III level. After transferring to Suffolk from Nichols College, Cook scored 31 goals and added 36 assists for a total of 67 points in his two seasons for the blue and gold.

Sabo, a Finance major in Suffolk's Sawyer School of Management, currently maintains a 3.38 cumulative grade point average. The senior defenseman continues to rack up the awards. Earlier this month Sabo was named as one of the top defenseman by the New England Hockey Writers and was also named to the ECAC Northeast All-Conference second team. Sabo finished the 2008-09 season second on the team with 10 goals and led the Rams with 7 power play goals. Armed with a blistering slap shot from the blueline Sabo was third among all defenseman in the ECAC Northeast this season with 17 total points. Sabo was named to the ECAC Northeast Weekly Honor this season on January 27, after posting his first career hat trick in a 5-4 victory over Framingham State. During a four game stretch in January, Sabo was Suffolk's best scorer tallying seven goals in a four game span. Sabo finishes up his career with 18 career goals and 27 assists for a total of 45 points.

Bourque, a Business Management major in Suffolk's Sawyer School of Management appeared in 18 games for Suffolk tallying one goal and three assists. Bourque had a big night on November 25th as he posted three points in a 6-5 overtime win over Franklin Pierce University in an ECAC Northeast conference mathcup. Bourque had a goal and two assists on the night. In 38 career games with Rams, Michael has tallied eight total points on three goals and five assists.
