Men’s Ice Hockey Completes 3-2 Comeback Against Johnson & Wales

PROVIDENCE– Trailing 2-0 after the first period, Suffolk men's ice hockey stormed back on the road with three unanswered, capped by Marko Giourof's go-ahead goal in the third period to lift the Rams to a 3-2 victory over Johnson & Wales on Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Johnson & Wales jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening period on goals from Jack Gerne and Roman Wainright.
  • Suffolk cut the deficit to one just 3:43 into the second, as Ralph Berry finished a deflected Joe O'Brien shot that Dimitri Voyatzis fed into the crease from behind the net.
  • The Rams tied the game early in the third period on a power-play goal by Michael Gallagher, who blasted a shot from the blue line into the bottom corner off assists from Marko Giourof and Aidan O'Connell. Suffolk completed the comeback at the 9:03 mark of the third when O'Connell kept the puck alive behind the net and slipped a backhanded pass to Nolan Leonard, whose shot was tipped home by Giourof for the 3-2 game-winner.
