CNE RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass
. – Suffolk men's ice hockey swept the Conference of New England (CNE) weekly awards for just the second time in program history and the first since January 31, 2022 after a perfect 3-0-0 week. Nolan Leonard earned Player of the Week, Austin McNicholas was named Goaltender of the Week, and Alex Ondos was selected Rookie of the Week.

Suffolk opened the week with a 4-3 non-conference victory over Framingham State on Senior Night before sweeping a home-and-home series with Western New England, beginning with a 3-2 overtime win on the road Friday and closing with a dominant 10-1 statement victory Saturday night at home.

Leonard fueled the Suffolk offense throughout the week. He recorded three assists against Framingham State, net the overtime game-winner Friday and poured in four points Saturday with one strike and three helpers. The sophomore earned his second career weekly award and his first since being named CNE Rookie of the Week January 31, 2025. He also becomes the third Suffolk skater to be named the best player in a seven-day span this season, first since Dimitri Voyatzis Feb. 2, 2026.

McNicholas appeared in both contests against the Golden Bears. The rookie netminder finished the home-and-home series with a .916 save percentage and a 1.50 goals-against average. The honor marks McNicholas' fifth weekly award of the season and his first since earning Goaltender of the Week Feb 2, 2026.

Ondos made his mark in the WNE series, tallying one assist Friday, before filling the scoresheet Saturday with one goal and four helpers. The rookie earns the first weekly award of his collegiate career and becomes the third Ram to be named CNE Rookie of the Week, joining McNicholas (Jan. 20, 2026) and Bobby Lachance (Nov. 17, 2025).

With the sweep, Suffolk has now collected 10 CNE weekly awards this season.

Suffolk closes the regular season with a pivotal series against Curry, beginning Friday night at home with a 6:00 p.m. puck drop before traveling to Canton, Massachusetts for the regular season finale on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
