Men’s Soccer Inches Up to Fifth in Region II in United Soccer Coaches Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Suffolk men's soccer crept up one spot in the latest United Soccer Coaches Region II Poll as the Rams sit fifth following its second straight 2-0-0 week, the national organization announced Tuesday afternoon.  

The Rams downed Dean, 6-2, and Wentworth, 3-0, last week to stretch their win streak to four, its most victories in a row since stringing five triumphs together Sept. 15-30, 2023. At 7-2-2 on the year, the blue-and-gold lands in the fifth spot in Region II in Poll 5, which is the highest regional rank since it sat in the same position Oct. 31, 2023. It is the fifth consecutive week Suffolk has been featured in the regional rankings. 

Back-to-back Conference of New England (CNE) Rookie of the Week Mohamed Mehaya is a crucial cog to Suffolk's success this season as the freshman powers the Rams' 25-goal offense with 19 points, which lands fourth in the region and 39th in NCAA Division III. He is compliment on the offensive side of the ball by usual suspects CNE Offensive Player of the Week Francisco Valck (2g, 3a) and Zach Vlachos (4g, 3a).  

The Rams have the third-best goal differential (15) in Region II and its thanks in large part to junior Nathan Harlow. The junior keeper boasts 0.76 goals-against average and .833 save percentage with four clean sheets, the second-most in the region and 29th-best in the country.  

Suffolk is one of three CNE teams in Region II's Top-8 as Roger Williams and Gordon sit third and eighth, respectively.  

The blue-and-gold returns to the pitch tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 7 as it welcomes Framingham State to East Boston Memorial Park's James A. Sartori Stadium for its non-conference finale at 7:00 p.m.
