BEVERLY, Mass. – Francisco Valck of the Suffolk men's soccer team picked up Conference of New England (CNE) Offensive Player of the Week behind a five-point effort over the course of a 1-0-1 week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Valck proved to be the difference marker to Suffolk's scoring in its critical CNE week. First, the forward assisted on the first goal against Johnson & Wales before he potted the game-winner himself with 5:13 remaining in regulation to secure a 2-1 victory for the Rams and three critical conference points.
Three days later, the blue-and-gold faced a one-goal deficit with 15 minutes to go in Springfield, Massachusetts at Western New England. The Weston, Florida product came up clutch with the game-tying goal in the 77th minute to force a 1-all draw with the Golden Bears, good for one point in the league standings.
Behind his offensive output last week, Valck stretched his point streak to eight games. In that span he has six goals including a pair of game winners and six assists.
The weekly recognition is Valck's second of the season, first since Oct. 6, and brings Suffolk's total weekly accolades to nine. Mohamed Mehaya has been tabbed the league's best rookie in a seven-day span four time (Sept. 15, Sept. 29, Oct. 6, Oct. 20) and Nathan Harlow received three CNE Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 15, Sept. 29, Oct. 20) awards. A Ram has been recognized with a weekly honor from the league in four consecutive weeks.
Valck and men's soccer is on the eve of their regular-season finale, a Tuesday, Oct. 30 tilt against Nichols at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park at 7 p.m.
