Men’s Tennis Makes CCC Tournament as Seventh Seed

BIDDEFORD, Maine – For the first time in program history, Suffolk men's tennis will compete in the Commonwealth Coast Conference postseason as the Rams earned the seventh seed in the 2022 CCC Tournament, the league office announced. 

Suffolk makes its first CCC tourney debut after producing a 2-6 league ledger, the best for the Rams in their CCC era. It is the first time the blue-and-gold will compete in the postseason under Scott Blanchard's guidance and first time since 2017 that Suffolk has a chance to vie for a conference crown. 

As the seventh seed, Suffolk makes the trip to Bristol, Rhode Island, Saturday, April 22 for the quarterfinals against second-seed at Roger Williams. First serve between the Rams and Hawks is scheduled for 1 p.m. 

RWU has made the CCC Championship contest in each of the past two seasons and compiled a 7-1 CCC record and 14-2 overall mark in 2023. 

In the regular season, Roger Williams whitewashed Suffolk, April 11. The Rams have never defeated the Hawks in program history, in a series that began a year ago. Both meetings between the blue-and-gold and RWU have been determined via 9-0 decisions. 

The quarterfinal winners will advance to join top seed Nichols in the semis on Wednesday, April 26. The Bison will host the winner of No. 4 Endicott, No. 5 Wentworth, while the victor of the Suffolk, Roger Williams showdown will meet the winner of No. 3 Gordon, No. 6 Salve Regina. 

The 2023 CCC Men's Tennis Tournament Champion will be crowned at the highest remaining seed Saturday, April 29. The winner of that match earns the league's automatic qualifying bid into the 2023 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship.
