ITA RELEASE | ITA SCHOLAR-ATHLETES | ITA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Suffolk men's tennis team and six players – Henry Blanchard, Christian Gardner, Sein Kim, Mehdi Mered, Abhi Patel and Jason Yany – picked up academic accolades from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The Rams were named an All-Academic Team, while the six student-athletes earned Scholar-Athlete distinction, the national organization announced Wednesday.
Each season the ITA recognizes students who maintain a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and earn varsity letter status.
Suffolk saw six honorees for the second straight season, which is a program-best for the blue-and-gold. Kim was a repeat honoree, while Blanchard, Gardner, Mered, Patel and Yany scooped up the distinction for the first time in their collegiate careers. Overall, the blue-and-gold has seen 30 student-athletes combine for 31 ITA Scholar-Athlete awards in its history book and has had a Ram take home the feat in each of the last seven seasons.
In 2025, 1,115 Division III men's student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes including 16 representatives from the Conference of New England (CNE) with Roger Williams (4), the University of Saint Joseph (3) and Western New England (3) joining the conference-best six Suffolk student-athletes on the national list. Team wise, the Rams' rackets picked up the program academic accolade for the second straight season and fifth time overall.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above on a 4.0 scale and all varsity letterwinners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year. Suffolk's nine-player roster compiled a 3.431 GPA.
Suffolk is the only CNE squads to be acknowledged for its academic excellence on the 135-school list of NCAA DIII men's squads that received the recognition this year. For a complete list of 2024-25 honorees click here.
