BOSTON – Suffolk men's tennis is set to begin its 2026 campaign at Roger Williams Tuesday, March 17 at 4:00 p.m.

RAPID REWIND
Suffolk went 1-11 last year with a 1-8 CNE ledger. The Rams lone victory came in sweeping fashion over Curry in the season final April 19, 2025.  

RAMS ROOKIES
Suffolk men's tennis features a blend of returning experience and new additions as fifth-year head coach Scott Blanchard brought in six new faces.

Of the six newcomers, two are seniors — Franco Amadio and Gabriel Suave — while Nicolas Calderon and Joshua Clamens join the squad as sophomores. Alex Fontaine and Santiago Lopez round out the group as juniors.

Suffolk men's tennis will be led by senior captain Jason Yany, head coach Scott Blanchard unveiled.

CLASS CATEGORIES
Suffolk's 11-player roster features a mix of experience across three classes. The Rams are led by a trio of seniors in Franco AmadioGabriel Suave and Jason Yany. The junior class includes four players in Ishmam AminAlex FontaineSantiago Lopez and Anders Ovren, while the sophomore class also features four Rams in Nicolas CalderonJoshua Clamens, Christian Gardner and Abhi Patel.

GEOGRPAHY 101
The Rams geographical make-up spreads three states and three countries. 

State-wise, Massachusetts leads the way with four Rams, while Florida is represented by two players and Rhode Island by one. 

Internationally, the roster features two players from Venezuela, while Bangladesh and Italy are represented by one Ram apiece.

AT THE HELM
Scott Blanchard enters his fifth season as the Suffolk men's tennis coach.

Blanchard has continued to guide the growth of the Suffolk men's tennis program, highlighted by a Conference of New England (CNE) Tournament appearance and a trip to the CNE Quarterfinals in 2023.

FIRST SERVE

  • Suffolk sits 5-10 in the first match of the season since 2009.
  • The Rams will look to reenter the win column on opening day after dropping the last seven season starts.
  • The last campaign-opening victory came on March 26, 2015 when the Rams got by cross-town rival Wentworth, 5-4. 

CNE CONTESTS

  • The Rams are 1-3 in CNE debuts in program history.
  • Suffolk's first and only CCC opening win came over Curry via a 7-2 decision March 26, 2022. 
  • All four of the blue-and-gold's CNE's first match of the year have taken place on the road.
  • Two of Suffolk's CNE openers ended via shutout, a 9-0 setback to Gordon, March 24, 2023, and a 7-0 decision to Colby Sawyer on March 9, 2025.
  • The Rams will begin their CNE campaign in March for the second year in a row.
  • Suffolk will begin its CNE calendar against Western New England for the first time. 

HAVE TO KNOW 'BOUT THE HAWKS

  • Roger Williams is 6-4 on the season and 1-0 in CNE contests. 
  • The Hawks come into Tuesday after a 3-2 Spring Break trip to Florida. 
  • Bronson DeSisto has played the most time as the Hawks' ace and holds a 3-4 record. 
  • Ryan Carroll is the winningest singles player for RWU at 6-2 with a 5-2 ledger in the second singles spot. 
  • The twosome of DeSisto and Carroll team up in doubles play and are 4-4 on the season exclusively as the top tandem. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • The Suffolk, Roger Williams series began in 2022. 
  • The Rams are 0-4 all-time against the Hawks. 
  • Every meeting between Suffolk and RWU have been decided via shutout decisions.
