AMHERST, Mass. – Michael Makiej of the Suffolk men's outdoor track & field team participated in one of the oldest track & field meets in the country, the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships at UMass Amherst.
Makiej is the first men's high jumper to earn a spot at prestigious event with 130-plus years of history and tradition. Suffolk's grad student cleared 1.91 meters, good for a share of seventh in the 24-competitor field.
Makiej has one last chance to clinch a spot at NCAA Division III Championships, MIT's Final Chance Qualifer Thursday, May 15.
