Men’s Cross Country Slips to 10th in East in USTFCCCA Regional Ranks
Suffolk men’s cross country moved down to 10th in the East in the latest U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association regional rankings, the national organization announced.
NEW ORLEANS – Suffolk men's cross country moved down to 10th in the East in the latest U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association regional rankings, the national organization announced.
The move came after the Rams returned to competition over the weekend after a two-week hiatus. The blue-and-gold raced to a third-place performance at its own meet, the Suffolk Invitational, and won the Battle for Boston Commons, a head-to-head race with Beantown Emerson.
Suffolk moved down three spots in week six from seventh where it stayed since emerging in the program's highest regional rank in week three. The Rams have yet to miss a regional ranking since week one of the 2021 season. The blue-and-gold is the only Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) member to make the regional rankings thus far this year.
The USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Coaches' rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams' strengths with current season results, when applicable in determining in a rank-order of squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member program are eligible to receive a ranking. The weekly regional ranking by the USTFCCCA began in 2010.
Suffolk has a week of rest before the 2022 CCC Championships, which are on tap for Saturday, Oct. 29 at Rotary State Park in Biddeford, Maine.
