Men’s Cross Country Sees Four Capture All-CNE

CNE RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – For the second consecutive campaign, four members of the Suffolk men's cross country team raced to All-CNE honors at the 2024 Conference of New England (CNE) Championships on the campus of Western New England Saturday, Nov. 2. Tim BarryThomas NovyHayden Green and Cam Fredette all propelled the rams to their fourth straight runner-up finish at the league meet.

The four all-league distinctions in a single season ties a Rams record, that was set last year.

To earn the all-league honor, a student-athlete must earn a spot in the top-15 at the conference championship. For the first time, the accolades were broken down to first team (1-5), second team (6-10) and third-team (11-15).

Suffolk's four honorees this year tie Roger Williams quartet that received all-league accolades to share the most decorated team title. Endicott and Wentworth saw a pair of their student-athletes scoop up all-conference as well as Gordon, Hartford and the University of New England, who were all represented on the all-league team by one student-athlete apiece.

Barry was the front Rams runner in Springfield, Massachusetts two weeks ago. The senior from Westborough, Massachusetts, came through the 8k finisher's chute 11 seconds behind individual champ Nathan Tassey of Roger Williams in 25:25.95 to finish as the runner-up in the field of 120 conference competitors en route to a spot on the first team.

Novy, Barry's classmate, a Simsbury, Connecticut native, found his way in the top 10 as he crossed the tape in 25:55.09, good for seventh to claim second team honors.

Green, meanwhile, was one spot out of the top 10 to land on the third team. The Redondo Beach, California product clocked a 26:11.38. Fredette, a sophomore that calls Merrimack, New Hampshire home, finished in 26:20.28 en route to his first all-league distinction, a third-team nod.

Novy and Green both picked up their third all-conference nods to stretch their program-record for multiple all-league distinctions from the CNE (formerly CNE). Barry joined the elite group of student-athletes with multiple all-league honors from the CNE with his second straight. The trio are the only members of Suffolk men's cross country with more than all-conference award from the CNE on their resumes.

With the four new all-conference nods, Suffolk has put 23 awards on its shelf in program history; 14 from the CNE and nine during its Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tenure. All, but two all-league recognitions have come under Will Feldman's guidance.

When broken down a Ram has earned CNE Runner of the Year, CNE Scholar-athlete of the Year and GNAC Runner of the Year once with two blue-and-gold runners racing to GNAC Rookie of the Year. Seven student-athletes have combined for eight All-CCC selections prior to the team distinction. There has been one All-CNE First-Team and All-CNE Second-Team selections and a pair of All-CNE Third-Team honorees in addition to six All-GNAC honorees, four first-team and two second-team.

In addition to the all-league accolades, the conference handed out the CNE Community Service Team award, which is presented to a student-athlete on each squad that demonstrates a commitment to their community. Suffolk's honoree was Sean Jacobsen
