BOSTON – After a stellar opening day of competition that saw the Rams put together back-to-back wins, Suffolk softball freshman Jill Pulek has been named the GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Pulek was an integral part of the Rams' success yesterday, logging hits in both games. In the season opener against Kenyon, Pulek went 3-for-4, including one double and a homerun, drove in three runs and scored one run herself in the 8-5 victory. Against Brockport she turned in a 1-for-3 showing and crossed home plate once.
The freshman ended the week with four hits in six at-bats, four runs scored, three RBI, one double, one homer and one walk. She posted a .571 batting average for the week and a 1.143 slugging percentage.
Pulek and the Rams continue action at the Gene Cusic Classic for the remainder of the week and take the diamond for two contests today against Edgewood (1 p.m.) and Wooster (5 p.m.).
