Softball’s Game Two with Endicott Halted in Middle of Fourth

BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk softball held onto a 3-0 lead over Endicott in the nightcap of a Conference of New England (CNE) double feature with 3.5 innings in the book before rain caused unplayable conditions and forced the league outing to be halted.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The game stayed scoreless until the bottom of the third. Avery Carvalho walked, stole second and advance to third on a passed ball. It was a case of déjà vu for Diana Rucinski as she worked a walk and swiped second to get into scoring position. With one out, Lily Gustafson's single to first plated Carvalho and then stole second herself. Three batters later, Julia Mills brought in both Rams on a bases loaded, two-out single up the middle to give the Rams a 3-0 cushion.

Endicott managed to get one base runner in the top of the fourth behind a walk by Ella Tower. Lily Newhall and the blue-and-gold defense kept the Gull there as the junior twirler fanned Caitlyn Romero looking to send game into the home half of the inning when the umpires made the call to halt the game.

Suffolk and the Gulls will pick up where they left off at a later date.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Suffolk is back in action tomorrow, Wednesday, April 16 when it entertains Curry in a twinbill at Babson's Alumni Field in Babson Park, Massachusetts. Game one is set to start at 3:00 p.m.
