The Endicott College Gulls (5-1 overall) rolled to an 81-61 victory over the Suffolk University Rams (2-4 overall) on Tuesday evening at the Regan Gymnasium.
Endicott had four players finish the game in double digits for points with senior Ashley Vitale (Wilmington, Mass.) leading all scorers with 20 points and with the Gulls' center grabbed 10 boards. Senior Brittany Kelleher (Wakefield, Mass.) also finished with a double-double as she scored 12 points and recorded 10 rebounds in the game.
Freshman Jennifer Ruys (Wallingford, Conn.) was the Rams' leading scorer for the fifth time in six contests as she scored 18 points shooting 8-for-13 from the field. Sophomore Jacqueline Vienneau (Salem, N.H.) had 17 points for the Rams along with three steals and three assists.
The Gulls took control of the game from the first half as they headed into the break with a 49-31 lead as senior Ashley Wright (Merrimack, N.H.) scored 16 of her 18 points in the opening period connecting on four shots from beyond the arc. Wright was also a pest for the Rams as she had six steals in the opening twenty minutes of play.
Endicott took advantage on the glass as they held a 51-31 edge in rebounds in the game and made the most of their opportunities scoring 22 points of second chances.
Junior Meghan Black (Roslindale, Mass.) also chipped in with 12 points in the game for Suffolk and was strong defensively blocking three shots.
Freshman Ashley Walenta (Plainfield, Conn.) had 10 points for the Gulls, while junior Nicole Heffernan (Londonderry, N.H.) had six assists.
Both teams will be back in action this upcoming Saturday afternoon. Endicott will host Emmanuel College at 1:00pm, while the Rams welcome Nichols College at the Regan Gymnasium at 1:00pm in non-conference action.
