BOSTON – In the second matchup of a three-game stretch at home, the Suffolk women's basketball team will host the AMCATS of Anna Maria at Regan Gymnasium for a 7 p.m. tip-off Thursday, Jan. 28.

The Suffolk women's basketball team sailed to an 85-63 victory over Lasell Saturday afternoon as senior Chelsea Campellone dropped 43 points in the win, marking the second highest single-game scoring performance by an individual in a Rams' uniform in the 40-year history of the program. 

Campellone went 16-of-22 from the floor, 11-18 from the line and brought down 13 rebounds, as she notched her seventh double-double of the season. 

Junior Caitlyn Caramello also sparked the Rams' defense, pitching in 13 boards to the Rams' 55 total and adding seven points. Alessandra Quadri finished the game with nine points and four assists, while Alexandra Nagri also dished out four helpers.

  • Suffolk will seek its third conference win of the season as it enters Thursday night's contest 10-7 overall and 2-2 in GNAC play after its convincing 85-63 victory over Lasell Saturday.
  • Senior standout Chelsea Campellone leads the Rams offense averaging 14.8 points per game, which ranks eighth overall in the GNAC. Alessandra Quadri has also provided a spark to the Suffolk scoring as the 5-foot-10 senior guard is averaging 11.2 points per contest.
  • On the defensive side of the ball, Suffolk ranks second in the GNAC, pulling down 47.3 rebounds per game. Campellone leads the Rams in boards per game with 10.0, which is good for the third-highest average conference-wide. Sophomore Caitlyn Caramello and Quadri have also contributed on defense, bringing down 6.9 and 6.1 rebounds, respectively.


  • Anna Maria (6-11) enters Thursday's matchup on a six-game skid after most recently falling to the University of Saint Joseph's (Conn.), 75-65. The AMCATS are 0-5 in GNAC action.  
  • Anna Maria is led offensively by a pair of juniors, Christina Gauvin and Deja Taitt, who are averaging 14.1 and 12.9, respectively. On defense, Samantha Parker leads the AMCATS with 5.1 boards per game with Taitt adding 4.5.
  • As a team, the AMCATS sit eighth in the league in points per game with 58.8 ppg. Anna Maria is averaging a 33.4 shooting percentage from the floor while averaging 28.6 percent from three and 63.9 percent at the line.

Chelsea Campellone's 43-point performance Saturday afternoon against Lasell rewrote Suffolk's women's basketball record books, which span 40 years. 

  • Two shy of the school record (45), which was set in 1987.
  • Second all-time by a Suffolk women's basketball player.
  • Most points scored in the Ed Leyden era, which spans 22 seasons.
  • Most points scored by a Suffolk women's basketball inside Regan Gymnasium.
  • Currently ranks as the third highest point total by an individual across all of Division III women's basketball.
  • The first player in the GNAC to surpass 40 points since 2013-14.

Through 10 home contests this season, Suffolk is 7-3 inside Regan Gymnasium while averaging 69.5 points and 52.1 rebounds per game. The Rams are shooting 38.1 percent from the floor on the home court and 35.1 percent from three.

After a weekend off, Suffolk will play host to the Beacons of UMass-Boston Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 7p.m. before heading back on the road to tip-off against Johnson & Wales later next week.
