Women’s Golf Faces JWU, Westfield State Saturday


BOSTON – The Suffolk women's golf team is scheduled for a Saturday, Oct. 13 showdown with Johnson & Wales and Westfield State. The Wildcats will host the Rams and Owls at the Metacomet Country Club in East Providence, Rhode Island.

LAST TIME OUT
For the second straight season, the Suffolk women's golf team finished as runner-up at the Empire 8 Championships hosted by Saint John Fisher over the weekend at Ballston Spa Country Club.

THE COURSE
Metacomet Country Club was laid out in 1901 by Donald J. Ross. The 18-hole, par 70 course runs 5,845 acres of green land.

THE COMPETITION
Johnson & Wales and Westfield State are no strangers to Suffolk's line-ups. The foes have met twice this season thus far at the Mt. Holyoke Invitational Sept. 22-23 and the Empire 8 Championships last weekend. The Rams have finished ahead of the Wildcats and Owls in both such outings.

MAKING HISTORY
Aine Dillon and Brooke Chapman made history as the 2018 Empire 8 Championships as the pair became the first-ever Suffolk women's golfers to garner all-league accolades. Dillon picked up first-team honors behind her fifth-place performance, while Chapman took home second-team status with thanks to her seventh-place showing.

Suffolk caps off its fall campaign as Oct. 21-22 when it defends its 2017 NEIGA title at Brewster, Massachusetts' Captains Golf Course.
