Women’s Golf to Compete in Inaugural CNE Championship

BOSTON – Suffolk women's golf is set to make history this weekend, Oct. 11-12, as the Rams will compete in the inaugural Conference of New England Championship. The two-day tournament will be hosted by the University of Hartford at Keney Park Gold Course in Windsor, Connecticut.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk women's golf turned in a 12th-place performance at the Polar Bear Shootout over the weekend at the Brunswick Golf Club.  

The Rams shot a 358 on Saturday and shaved 10 strokes off that performance on the second day on the course in Vacation Land, good for a 705 to claim 12th in the 14-team field.

THE BREAKDOWN
Keney Park Golf Course will serve as the site of the first-ever CNE Women's Golf Championship. The 36-hole, two-day stroke play format features teams of five golfers, with the top four scorers counting towards the team total each round. 

THE FIELD
Six teams will compete in the inaugural CNE Women's Golf Championship. Joining Suffolk in the field is Gordon, Hartford, Nichols, Roger Williams, and the University of New England. 

WHAT'S UP FOR GRABS
The winner of the 36-hole event will be crowned the first-ever CNE Women's Golf Champion and claim the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament. 

Individually, the top golfer in the field will garner CNE Golfer of the Year, while the best rookie on the course will take home CNE Rookie of the Year. Additionally, the top eight performers will be evenly split between first-team (1-4) and second-team (5-8) all-conference honorees. 

SUFFOLK AT KENEY PARK GOLF COURSE

  • Suffolk will compete at Keney Park Golf Course for the second time this season and in program history.
  • The Rams opened their 2025-26 campaign at the same course, finishing second overall at the Hartford Hawks Invitational.
  • Suffolk was the top NCAA Division III team in the eight-team varsity field with a 336, behind only Division II Bentley (328).
  • Krisna Mahendran lead the way with an 81 (+9) to tie for fourth in the 38-golfer field.
  • Brooke Bugajewski followed closely with an 82 (+10) to finish tied for seventh.
  • Emory Goodson placed 11th overall with an 85 (+13), as the trio ranked as the top Division III finishers at the event.
  • Lauren Phelan and Alexia Hill rounded out Suffolk's lineup with scores of 88 and 101, respectively.

RAMS RECOGNITION
Krisna Mahendran earned her third CNE Golfer of the Week award of the season after carding a two-day total of 165 (82-83) at the Polar Bear Shootout, while Phelan captured her second consecutive Rookie of the Week honor with a 184 (93-91).
