Women’s Hockey Debuts in DCU/USCHO.com Preseason Poll

DCU/USCHO.com PRESEASON POLL

BOSTON – For the first time in program history, Suffolk women's hockey picked up votes in the DCU/USCHO.com Division III Preseason Poll, the national organization announced.

The DCU/USCHO.com Division III Women's Ice Hockey Poll is compiled weekly and consists of 15 votes, including coaches and media professional from across the country.

Suffolk received votes in the poll leading up to the season for the first time, however, it is not the first time the Rams have been spotted on the national list. Last year when the blue-and-gold upset then-No. 8 Endicott, 4-3, Jan. 28, it earned the programs' highest ranking yet at No. 11 in the Jan. 31, 2022 edition of the weekly rankings.

Under fifth-year head coach Taylor Wasylk, Suffolk not only looks to break the top-15 this season, but has a chance to find its way into the top-10. The Rams welcome back 66.8 percent of its total offense from last year's team that racked up 97 goals. Highlighting returners in blue-and-gold is AHCA All-American Shana Cote. Suffolk's defense also brings back all three goalies in Hannah Gordon (1.12 GAA, .947 save percentage), Julia McLellan (1.90 GAA, .908 save percentage) and Lily O'Neil (2.232 GAA, .905 save percentage), as well as all-region and all-conference stealthy blue liner Madison Duff, who opted in for her fifth year.

Puck drop of the 2022-23 Suffolk campaign is 17 days away with the Rams set to lift the lid on its fifth year at Plymouth State Friday, Oct. 28 at 3:00 p.m.
