Mount Holyoke answered with three straight goals over a 4:04 span to jump in front, 3-1, with 5:34 remaining in the opening quarter. The Rams responded before the break as Julia Dickinson found the back of the net and Lauren Woods added an unassisted, man-up marker with 16 seconds left to knot the game at 3-3 after one.
- Suffolk grabbed its first lead of the night behind strong defensive pressure from Zoe Peckham, who scooped up a ground ball off a wayward pass and buried her chance to make it 4-3 with 13:42 to play in the half. Carley Ehwa stretched the advantage to two with a free-position goal at 11:06, but Mount Holyoke answered with a free-position tally of its own to pull within one, 5-4. Ehwa took over from there, scoring three of the game's next four goals to bring her total to four and send the Rams into halftime with an 8-5 edge.
- Out of the break, Mount Holyoke capitalized on a Suffolk turnover to trim the deficit to 8-6, but the Rams answered with consecutive goals from Dickinson and Ehwa, coupled with back-to-back defensive stops, to build a 10-6 advantage at the 7:59 mark of the third quarter. The Lyons won the ensuing draw and struck just nine seconds later to pull within three again. Charlotte Goodman then connected with Ehwa, who finished from in close for her sixth goal of the night to reestablish a four-goal cushion, 11-7, with 6:33 remaining in the third. Mount Holyoke held Suffolk off the board for the rest of the quarter and sliced the lead in half to make it 11-9 heading into the final frame.
