Suffolk University Women's Soccer freshman Melissa Brouillette (Shelton, Conn.) was named Defensive Player of the Week by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) for Division-III New England on October 18.
The Rams goalkeeper currently maintains a scoreless minutes streak of 497 minutes as she has posted consecutive shutouts in the past five Suffolk contests.
This past week Brouillette recorded back-to-back 11 save performances in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchups. On Wednesday she pushed aside all 11 shots in a 0-0 double overtime draw with the Simmons College Sharks before posting her sixth win of the season over Norwich University in a 4-0 Suffolk victory.
With most of the attention going to teammate Leslie Hayden's (Ross, Calif.) surge up the GNAC's all-time career scorinng leaders lists, Brouillette has provided the Rams stability in goal as they have now gone unbeaten over their last six contests.
She holds a 6-4-1 this season for the Rams in goal, while posting six shutouts. The Rams record for shutouts in a season is seven, set by Emily Joyce during the 2010 campaign. In 12 games played this year and nearly 1100 minutes in goal, Brouillette boasts a goals against average of 1.39 while making a total of 72 saves on the season.
