Jessica Harmon Named Rookie of the Year in GNAC Women's Soccer

Freshman Jessica Harmon (Huntington Beach, Calif.) was named Women's Soccer Rookie of the Year by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) for the 2014 season.

The freshman striker finished with team-high in goals scored (11) and points (24).  On the season, Harmon registered multi-goal games in five of 17 games she appeared in for a total of 11 on the year. She was named GNAC Rookie of the Week on two separate occasions; October 6 and October 13. For the week of October 6, Harmon was tabbed as the top first year player in New England earning Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Corvais Rookie of the Week honors following back to back games in which she scored a pair of goals, a 2-2 tie with St. Joseph's College of Maine, and a 3-3 tie with Mount Ida College. Harmon accounted for over 50-percent of Suffolk's goals scored on the season with 11 strikes and a pair of assists. She is tied for fifth among goal scorers in the GNAC and ranked seventh in total points. Harmon was also named as a third team All-Conference selection by the GNAC.

She is the third Suffolk player since the 2008 season to earn the league's top honor for a first year player. She joins Leslie Hayden who earned the award in 2008 and Gabrielle Balestrier who was named the top rookie in 2011.

Suffolk finished the season with a  5-9-3 overall record. The entered the 2014 GNAC Tournament as the number eight seed with a 4-4-3 conference mark. They were downed in the quarterfinals by Lasell College, 7-0 as the Lasers went on to win their fifth straight conference championship.
