BOSTON – The 2018 Suffolk women's tennis season is two days away from the first serve as the Rams ready to welcome Thomas to North Reading High School for the season opener Sunday, Sept. 2. The blue-and-gold and Terriers are scheduled for a 12 p.m. first serve.

Suffolk welcomes back a quartet of players from last season's squad that went 8-7 overall and 3-3 against GNAC competition to reach the GNAC semifinals for the fourth season.
Senior Delaney Dunlap anchors the quartet of returning players, all of which reign from the senior class. The Hingham, Massachusetts, native held down Suffolk's ace spot a year ago, putting together a 9-6 overall record and a 4-2 league ledger en route to all-league first-team singles status.
Suffolk's roster is comprised of seven players, both international and New England local. A trio of student-athletes are Massachusetts natives with one hailing from New Hampshire. Bosnia and Germany are also represented by one athlete each.
Just two classes are represented on the 2018 Suffolk women's tennis seven-player roster with four members of the Class of 2019 and three true freshmen.
AT THE HELM
Matthew Tiberri returns for his second campaign as the Rams head coach after leading the Rams to the GNAC postseason a year ago.
Suffolk is back at home for its season opener this year. The Rams look to snap a two-match season debut skid, after falling in the first match of the season in back-to-back campaigns. The blue-and-gold will meet RIC in its first outing of the year for the third straight season.
With two new additions to the conference ranks, Suffolk women's tennis has been picked to finish sixth in the GNAC Preseason Poll, voted on by the league's eight head coaches, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Two days prior to first serve of the 2018 Suffolk women's tennis season, head coach Matthew Tiberii has unveiled that Elena Cisneros Garcia and Delaney Dunlap will share leadership responsibilities as co-captains.

Rhode Island shutout Lesley, 9-0, to open its 2018 slate.
Grace Zangari took care of ace responsibilities for the Anchormen and combined with Hailey Raskob, who played No. 5 singles, as the squad's second seeded duo. On the first doubles court was Katherine Braganca and Laurel Ten Eyck. Bragancais RIC's No. 4 on the singles court, while Ten Eyck held down the sixth slot.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Suffolk and RIC will meet for the 14th time since 2001.
- The Rams trail the all-time series, 4-9.
- Tuesday's tilt marks the fourth match between the Rams and Anchormen in Suffolk's season opener. When competing against RIC int eh first outing of the year, Suffolk is 0-2, including a 9-0 setback in 2017, the foes last meeting.
Suffolk, who begins a three-match homestand, takes a day off before entertaining Rhode Island College Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 3:30 p.m.
