CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Suffolk women's indoor track & field took its talents across the bridge Saturday to compete at MIT's Gordon Kelly Invite at the Johnson Athletic Center Track.
RAMS RUNNERS
- There was an eight-Ram contingent featured in the 60-meter dash highlighted by JJ Conteh's fifth-place performance as she clocked a7.96 in the finals. Hilma Ortega (8.24), Rhoni Johnson (8.32), Kaylie Groom(8.46), Bailey Stoddard-Baughman (8.51), Kelsie Dessaps 8.59), Olivia Coyne (8.73) and Aida Bellal(9.06).
- Coyne made half a lap around the track in 29.31.
- Groom finished seventh in the 400 with a time of 1:03.2.
- Maria Gallant finished two laps around the track in 3:07.22.
HOW 'BOUT THE HURDLERS
- Ortega placed 10th in the 60 hurdles behind a 9.61 effort. Stoddard-Baughman (10.00) and Averie Denelle(10.80) were featured in the field as well.
JUMPERS JIST
- Dennelle took third in the high jump as she cleared 1.58.
- Devyn Battistoni tied for eighth in the pole vault with a 3.25 effort.
- Dessaps finished seventh in the long jump thanks to a 4.85-meter leap. Evelyn Lansing (4.42), Dootchina Dorielan (4.33) and Sasha Helfott-Waters (3.90) all competed in the event as well.
THROWERS THOUGHTS
- Divinety Johnson (9.27 / 11.77), Emily Millan (7.46/8.49) and Abby MacMillan (6.06/7.07) heaved the shot put and weight throw, respectively.
- Hannah Laderoute (11.48) participated in the weight throw.
RAMS RECORDS
- Groom produced a personal-best in the 60 with a time of 8.46.
- Coyne clocked a career-high 8.73 in the 60.
- Laderoute logged a PR of 11.48 in the weight throw.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Rams will split up next weekend as some student-athletes will compete at Boston University's John Thomas Terrier Classic, while another Suffolk contingent is set to participate at the Harvard Invitational.
