BOSTON – A pair of Suffolk women's indoor track & field program records were written Friday as the Rams competed at the River Hawk Invitational at the Track at New Balance.
RAMS RECORDS
- Hilma Ortega hurdled to a program-best in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.41. Averie Denelle also posted a personal-best in the event with a performance of 10.27.
- JJ Conteh clocked a program-record of 7.84 in the 60-meter dash and posted a season-high in the 60.
- Olivia Coyne tied a personal-high of 8.73 in the 60 and set a personal-best in the 60 (28.85).
- Kaylie Groom (27.52) and Keslie Desspas (27.66) produced a personal-best in the 200.
- Aida Bellal logged a season-best in the 200 (29.96).
RAMS RUNNERS
- Conteh's program-best time of 7.84 in the 600 was good for 10th. Stoddard-Baughman (8.66), Coyne (8.73), Dootchina Dorielan 8.88) and Aida Bellal (9.08) sprinted the dash as well.
- Every Ram in the 200 either posted a new career-high or season-best in Conteh (26.56), Groom (27.52), Desspas (27.66), Coyne (28.85) and Bellal (29.96).
- Groom made one lap around the track in 1:01.56 to take 28th in the 400.
HURLDES HINDSIGHT
- Ortega's program-best time of 9.41 was good for 26th. Bailey Stoddard-Baughman (9.88) and Averie Denelle (10.27) were featured in the 73-competitor field as well.
THROWERS THOUGHTS
- Divinety Johnson (9.46) and Hannah Laderoute (8.95) heaved the shot put.
JUMPERS JIST
- Kelsei Desspas leapt to fourth in the long jump with a 4.96-meter performance. Dorielan (4.53), Evelyn Lansing (4.12) and Sasha Helfgott-Waters (3.83) competed in the event as well.
- Dennelle cleared 1.55 meters in the high jump to land outside the top-10 in 11th.
- Helfgott-Waters compiled a 9.05-meter effort in the triple jump, good for 16th.
YOU'RE NEW HERE
- Dorielan ran the 60-meter dash for the first time indoors.
SUFFOLK'S SCHEDULE
Suffolk takes the rest of the weekend off to prep for its pair of events Feb. 13-14 in the Tufts Cupid Challenge and the David Henry Valentine invite at Boston University.
