Women’s Cross Country Goes for Fourpeat at CNE Championships

BOSTON – Three-time defending conference Suffolk women's cross country attempts to win its fourth consecutive conference crown at the 2024 Conference of New England Championship Saturday, Nov. 2. The 6k race commences at 12:00 p.m. on the campus of Western New England.

CNE CHAMPIONSHIPS

  • The CNE has crowned a cross country champion dating back to 1998 for the women and 2000 for the men with the exception of the 2020 season for both sides due to COVID-19. 
  • Western New England will host the event. 
  • On the women's side, the University of New England has five overall crowns. Gordon has also won the meet five times over the last 23 seasons. 
  • Suffolk's women have raced three times and captured the title on every occasion. 
  • Suffolk is the third team to win three or more CNE Championships in a row, first since the University of New England (2012-18). 

RAMS AT CNEs

  • Suffolk's women claimed the 2021, 2022 and 2023 CNE Championships. 
  • In 2021, three Suffolk women earned all-conference.
  • In 2022, Suffolk saw six of its top seven runners garner All-CCC recognition with a finish in the top five, the most all-league performers in a single season for the Rams – Katelynn Brunt (23:45), Ellie Davis (24:00.7) Skyler Goodman (24:21.7), Amy Pattelena (24:27.4), Sarah Roberts (24:38.0) and Sydney Fogg (24:48.5). 
  • In 2023, five student-athletes grabbed all-conference in Ellie Davis (22:58.6), Sarah Roberts (23:54.2), Sydney Fogg (24:01.5), Amy Pattelena (24:05.6) and Emily Concepcion (24:23.0).
  • The third place performances by Brunt in 2022 and Ellie Davis' in 2024 is the best individual finish by a blue-and-gold female at the meet. 
  • Davis' 22:58.6 6k time last season is a conference championship Suffolk record. 
  • Fogg has three all-conference accolades on her resume. She could become the first-ever Suffolk female runner to earn all-league honors four times.

CNE CHAMPIONSHIPS at WESTERN NEW ENGLAND

  • Suffolk will race for the CNE Championships at Western New England for the second time, first since 2021. 
  • The Rams registered 73 points as a team when racing at the CNE Championships at WNE. 
  • A Suffolk student-athlete's best time on the CNE Championship course in Springfield, Massachusetts was a 24:06 by Gwen Koziara.

ALL-CNE

  • Student-athletes that finish in the top 15 will capture all-conference recognition.

"This is the deepest, and most competitive field we've seen at the conference championship," head coach Will Feldman said. "Gordon and UNE are both Regionally ranked, and Roger Williams has more than enough talent to be a serious threat."

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk women's cross country was represented by a trio of underclassmen at the Mayor's Cup at Franklin Park Sunday. Freshman Gina Cappello and sophomores Maria Gallant and Jaenelle Bryant ran the 5k.

Suffolk women's cross country dipped two spots in the East in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional rankings.
