NEW ORLEANS – Suffolk women's cross country stayed seventh in the East in Week 5 of the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the national organization unveiled Tuesday.
The Rams held onto the second to last spot in the East after four student-athletes ran the 5k at the 29th James Early Invitational in Westfield, Massachusetts over the Weekend.
Suffolk made its regional debut in the Week 7 Edition of the 2021 campaign and has been present in all, but one since.
The Rams are of two Conference of New England (CNE) programs to be recognized this week as the University of New England landed two spots behind Suffolk in ninth.
The USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Coaches' Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning team's strengths with current season results, when applicable, to determine a ranking-order by squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. The weekly ranking by the USTFCCCA began in 2010.
Suffolk is idle until the 2025 CNE Championship, which is on tap for Saturday, Nov. 1 on the campus of Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts. The Rams aim for their fifth consecutive conference crown in as many appearances at the league meet.
