Moukaddem CNE Runner of the Year, Women’s Cross Country Earns Five All-CNE

CNE RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Recognition poured in for the five-team Conference of New England (CNE) Champs, the Suffolk women's cross country team, Thursday as Sofia Moukaddem was name CNE Runner of the Year, while five Rams raced to All-CNE distinction.

Along with the top honor, Moukaddeem earned a place on the first team alongside Grace Miller, sophomore Tess Druryand senior Amy Pattelena, while Chloe Koo rounded out the Rams on the third squad.

To earn an all-league honor, a student-athlete must earn a spot in the top-15 at the conference championship. For the second straight season, the accolades were broken down to first team (1-5), second team (6-10) and third-team (11-15).

The group was instrumental to Suffolk's fifth consecutive crown. The first-team foursome of Moukaddem, Miller, Drury and Pattelena were the first four runners in the field of 92 to came through the 6k finisher's chute. Koo, meanwhile, completed the Rams' top five with an 11th-place performance in her first collegiate championship.

Moukaddem made Suffolk history as the first student-athlete to capture CNE Runner of the Year. She cruised past her conference counterparts with a 22:04.08 to be the first runner to cross the tape. The junior is the third-ever Suffolk women's cross country runner to capture a league's highest honor, first since Emily Manfra did so in 2019 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). The first-team award is a first for the Weston, Massachusetts native, who was selected to the second team a year ago.

Miller, a grad student from Centereach, New York, was right on Moukaddem's heels as she was seconds behind her teammate to be the CNE runner-up. It is the second time in Suffolk's history that Rams finished first and second at a league meet since Emma Weisse and Manfra did so at GNACs in 2018.

Drury, who calls Richmond, Vermont home, rounded out the podium with a 22:06.87 and Pattelena, a Hollis, New Hampshire, product, finished fourth with a time of 22:24.18.

Miller and Drury garnered All-CNE distinction for the first time in their collegiate careers, while Pattelena picked up her fourth. She is the second-ever Ram to achieve all-conference status in each year in her collegiate career, joining Sydney Fogg '25, who accomplished a feat a year ago.

Koo, a freshman from South Pasadena, California, made the most of her first collegiate championship as the freshman posted a 23:23.74 to grab 11th and lock up Suffolk's fifth straight title and her first all-league nod.

It is the third straight season that Suffolk picked up five all-league honors. The five all-leauge awards sits in a share for second in the Rams record book for most all-conference distinctions in a single season sitting behind 2022's six selections.

In addition to the all-conference accolades, the league handed out the CNE Community Service Team award, which is presented to a student-athlete on each squad that demonstrates a commitment to their community. Suffolk's representative is Miller.

Overall, Suffolk has secured 42 all-league honors in its history, 26 from the CNE and 16 during its time in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with 33 earned during Will Feldman's tenure. When the CNE accolades are broken down, the Rams own 14 all-conference (prior team distinction), one CNE Runner of the Year, six first-team, two second-team and two third-team.
