Zulla Takes Ram of the Week in Landslide

BOSTON – Week 5 of Ram of the Week Twitter Poll saw over 230 votes with a clear victor chosen by Ram Nation. 

AND THE WINNER IS …  

Ashley Zulla of the Suffolk softball hit a grand slam in the voting with 61 percent of the 234 nods cast thanks to her bases clearing jack in the openers Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener, an 11-2, six-inning decision over Wentworth.  

That grand slam, the first of the senior's career, helped the catcher put together an impressive .625/.625/1.500 slash line in the conference doubleheader sweep of the Leopards. Of her five hits, three were for extra bases, including one grand slam, one bomb and one double. She brought in seven runs including a personal-best five RBI effort in the league debut. She added three runs to Suffolk's 2-0 weekend as well.

RAMS RUNNER-UPS

2ND PLACE – 32% - MARC BIRBIGLIA – BASEBALL  
2GP - .375/.375/.750 - 3 H - 1 HR - 2 RBI - 1 R - 1 SB 

Marc Birbiglia kept his hit streak going in the CCC opening double feature at Gordon. The sophomore registered a 3-for-8 effort with one homer to finish the two-game series with the Fighting Scots with two RBI and on run scored. 

3RD PLACE – 5% - WILLIAM ROWE – MEN'S BASKETBALL
2 GP – 13.0 PPG – 50.0 FG% - 13.0 RPG 

William Rowe averaged a double-double effort in a 1-1 finale week for Suffolk men's basketball. In the barn-burning, game one, which the Fighting Scots won, 84-82, the forward was a monster on the boards with 16 caroms to go along with 10 points. The next day, he switched his offensive and defensive output with 16 points and 10 rebounds to finish his junior campaign with his third straight double-double. 

4TH PLACE – 2 % - GABRIELLA DECOMO – WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
2 GP – 13.0 PPG – 41.2 FG% - 5.0 RPG 

Gabriella DeComo put together an eight-point, six-rebound effort in a 64-41 win at Gordon, before scoring a game-high 18 points with four caroms in the season finale, a 66-57 triumph over the Fighting Scots.
